  “NOT RECOMMENDED - I had an extremely bad experience dealing with Cumberland Watersports, also known as Onlineoutboards dot com. They sent me a defective outboard motor out of the box. They arrogantly refused to exchange, replace, or refund the item. At the very least I expected to hear these words in their vocabulary: I am sorry, We apologize Let me try to help you, or something within that nature. Rather than going that route, they gave me the cold shoulder and just claimed they could do nothing to help me.
  
  To put matters worse, they have the audacity to show a nasty attitude instead of trying to help out. At least have the decency to make things right. I got some harsh words over the phone. It is mind boggling why the gentleman was so unprofessional and rude. No apologies or any effort to make things right on their part. You figure that after 45 years as a retailer, they would learn how to treat their customers the right way. Here is proof of a company that lacks integrity and does not value customer satisfaction.”

  “I bought a 9.8 hp Tohatsu with electric start and service from Cumberland was good overall. They shipped quickly and had the best price around. Filled with oil and gas and it started on first pull. I'm very happy and would do the deal again.”

  “I searched high and low for a good used motor for my Hunter 22 sailboat before I cam across these guys. I found them to be helpful and quick to respond to my questions I had emailed. I spent just over $2300 on a brand new outboard which was just slightly higher than good used ones in my area but got the benefit of having full warranty which made it a no brainer. I am very pleased with the performance of the 9.8hp Tohatsu and it is so much better on gas than the smelly 2-stroke Johnson it replaced. Very happy with my purchase here.”

  “I ordered my new outboard on a Wed. and had it Friday. They also included free shipping in an already great price that could not be beat. Communication was good and they emailed me tracking information so I could trace shipment. Follow up questions were also answered quickly about oil.”

  “I was able to find exactly what I was looking for and they had a great price (saved nearly $400.00 vs. buying locally). I found the process to be smooth and the shipping time was phenomenal. They emailed me tracking information and it was packaged very well in a sturdy container. Pushes my 14ft aluminum hull beautifully. I had a follow up question about engine oil and I found them to be very helpful post sale as well. I would buy from them again.”

  “I spoke to salesperson named Mike and he was very helpful with my purchase. I didn't know much about boat motors and he gave me all the info I needed. Amazingly my new engine arrived in 3 days. Ran perfect no problems at all. I would highly recommend these guys.”

  “I definately agree with the previous reviewer. I had requested the price quote and then went ahead and placed the order even though they were about $10 higher on all items than others I had found. I didn't want to delay. The guy(kid) called me for some additional information and was extremely rude and threatened to cancel the order. As if he was doing me some favor by allowing me to purchase parts from him at inflated prices. I asked for the owner and he said he was the owner. I told him to go ahead and cancel the order and said he had a lot to learn about how to treat customers. I'll bet anything that the guy with the positive review is the owner. I'll be warning others as well and will be going to their competition. They also go by the name tohatsuparts.com and nissanparts.com. No where do they give an address on either website but at the bottom of the page in small letters it says cumberland water sports.”

  “I have just experienced just the opposite of the previous reviewer. The salesman that took my call was friendly and answered all of my questions politely and even voluntarily reduced his price when I told of other pricing options I had found. This resulted in the very best pricing I could find!
  I haven't purchased yet, but I plan to in the next few days.”

  “The worst customer service I have experienced in years. I phoned the 1-888 number to verify the dollar values of the items I wanted to purchase. The customer service/sales employee I spoke with was less than helpful. I began asking questions about shipping dates, tracking numbers, etc and his answers were very abrupt as if I had interrupted his morning schedule. I then requested verification of the prices I had found on the website for an outboard engine and additional parts I wanted to purchase. He accused me of phoning to get lower prices. I explained I was only trying to verify the dollar values found on the website before making such a large purchase. His statement to me: 'I dont think we can do business with you, good-bye.' He hung the phone up on me at that moment. If this is an example of the employees this company has hired, I don't expect them to remain operational for very long. I will use their competition for my purchase and will warn other potential customers.”
